With wiry stems and small round leaves, this shrub is a trailing vine and grows fast. It's part of the Polygonaceae family and was named after Henry Gustave Muehlenbeck, a physician and botanist who lived in France.
Despite this plant having the nickname of Australian Ivy, it is actually native to New Zealand where it grows on sand dunes.
These plants are deciduous, which means that they'll shed their leaves over the winter months. If this plant's soil gets too dry it could be dehydrated and perish as a result, so aim to keep it moist.
