Otherwise known as Fittonia Albivenis, these beautiful vein covered plants require indirect sunlight and regular watering as it’s vulnerable to excessive heat, so keep this plant well away from the sun to avoid drooping leaves. Allow the soil to completely dry before watering again along with almost daily misting, ensuring you use room temperature water to prevent shocking it. Reduce this routine during cooler months and your Fittonia will thrive. This plant is safe around pets and humans.

Fittonia come in a variety of colours and your order will contain one of the four colours seen in the images.

Looking for a pot? These Fittonia fit the medium Concrete Candy pots perfectly.

All our plants come with a beautiful keepsake postcard with care instructions so you'll never kill your house plant again!

FACT: Native to Peru and other South American countries, Fittonia Albivenis is named after it’s discoverers, botanist sisters Elizabeth and Sarah Fitton.

Size: W8.5cm x H12cm

Caring & Arranging

Caring for your Flowers.

  • Some of your flowers will still be in bud form to give you maximum vase life but these will open once placed in water.
  • Trim 2-3cm off each steam at a 45 degree angle (your flowers will drink more water if you cut them at an angle)
  • The Beards & Daisies florists have groomed your flowers before sending them but once placed in your vase, ensure there are no leaves below the water line (it causes bacteria to grow and can reduce the life of your blooms)
  • Place your flowers in a clean vase filled with fresh water
  • Add the flower food according to the instructions on the sachet (please use it - it really does work)
  • Repeating the above steps every 2-3 days will prolong the life of your flowers.

Tips for longer lasting flowers.

  • Flowers will struggle to survive in some environments so avoid placing them in direct sunlight, by radiators or draughty windows.
  • Fruit such as bananas, avocados, tomatoes and melons (to name a few), emit Ethylene gas otherwise known as the Silent Flower Killer (a little drastic we know), so avoid placing your flowers by ripening fruit in your kitchen.
  • Make sure your vase is super clean! Any lingering salt from the dishwasher or flower scum (yes it happens) from your previous blooms will reduce the life of your flowers.

Tips for arranging your flowers.

  • Focal flowers sit at the heart of your arrangement so place your roses or lilies in the centre.
  • Cut the complementary flowers such as Lisianthus or Alstroemeria at varying heights and place around the focal flowers.
  • The remaining filler flowers add colour or texture to your design so keep them visible.
  • Foliage looks great when used imprecisely, try placing throughout the vase or in large clusters.
  • We love our flowers loose and wild and experimenting is all part of the fun! Try vases, jugs or urns and don’t forget to rescue the longer lasting flowers before binning the whole bunch. Trim your foliage and pop in milk bottles or jars, you’ll be surprised at much longer you get from some varieties of flowers once you’ve removed any dying blooms.
