This variety of Japanese Maple Tree, has feather-like foliage that resembles the colour of a garnet stone, hence its name. By autumn, it will turn more of a scarlet shade of red. It really makes for a fantastic asset to any garden to watch its colour change along with the seasons.
The Latin part of this plant's name, Palmatum, translates to mean 'leaf shaped like a hand'. It was and was named by Swedish botanist and physician, Carl Peter Thunberg, in the 18th century.
Position the Acer Palmatum Garnet in partial shade as direct sunlight can scorch its leaves. Make sure its soil is well-drained. It won't require frequent pruning, so it makes for a great low maintenance plant.
