The beautiful Acer Palmatum comes in an array of colours, bringing diversity to your garden. This plant is slow-growing and will work will in containers on a patio, so suit those with a smaller outdoor space.
The Latin part of this plant's name, Palmatum, translates to mean 'leaf shaped like a hand'. It was named by Swedish botanist and physician, Carl Peter Thunberg, in the 18th century.
Position the Acer Palmatum in partial shade as direct sunlight can scorch its leaves. In fact, the shade of its foliage changes in accordance with how much sunlight it gets. You're likely to see green in shadier spots and purple with more light. Keep the soil moist. Hot and dry weather may cause the leaves to go brown, so don't be afraid to water more during the summer.
