Known as the Australian Bottlebrush, in reference to its unique-shaped red flower heads, this shrub will certainly make a colour statement! It originates from Australia, and despite its impressive and flamboyant appearance, this evergreen shrub is incredibly easy-to-grow, making it perfect for gardening beginners.
The Callistemon Citinus Blush Red Tree not only looks good, but smells good, too as its leaves release an aromatic, lemon scent when crushed.
Expect to see this shrub flower between May and June, and later again in August. Prune annually after its flowering period has finished. It isn't fussy as to whether it is placed in a pot or planted in a flowerbed, just make sure its soil is well-drained. It may need protection and shelter from frosts and strong winds.
