Who said plants had to be green? This palm-like beauty is coloured in deep red shades and, with its long, sword-shaped leaves, it will definitely make an impact in your outdoor space. Also known as the Torbay Palm, it originates from New Zealand and Australia and is a member of the Asparagaceae family - despite resembling a palm in looks and taking its common name from it.

As this plant gets older, it has the ability to produce white flower spikes that are scented.

Protect this plant's beautiful leaves by positioning in a light, semi-shady spot as they can fade if exposed to strong sunshine. In the winter, you may want to consider moving the plant inside to a conservatory or greenhouse to prevent damage. Alternatively, you could consider tying up the leaves to reduce wind damage. Also, this plant is toxic to pets so keep this in mind if your furry friends are prone to nibbling.

How to keep me happy

Plant size:  W17cm x H65cm
Hardiness: Half hardy
Ideal for:  I'm happy in a pot or a flowerbed
Position in:  I like the sun, but I'm okay with a bit of shade
Easy to grow:  I'm a low maintenance plant
Scented: I'll help your garden to smell lovely
Latin name:  Cordyline Australis

Jo's top tip

If you're planting the Cordyline into the ground, do so during spring to allow the plant to establish and settle itself before winter arrives. However, if it's in a pot, you can plant all year around.

Does not include decorative pot.

If you'd like to return a living item, let the team know within 30 days by emailing or live chat if online. Please attach a photo of the faulty or damaged plant. Other items can be returned for a refund within 30 days as long as they're unused and in re-saleable condition.

In short, if anything isn't right with your order we'll sort it.

Your plants have not only been packaged by humans (we’d like to find a robot that could beat our packaging skills) but by our in-house team of plant lovers who have lovingly prepared your order.

If you’re not happy with your plants, let us know within 30 days, by contacting us via live chat, email or phone and a friendly member of our team will do their absolute best to rectify anything that's gone wrong.

It's not just the plants that we care about though, we're pretty proud of our market leading (sustainable) packaging too. We’ve created a family of transport boxes with handles and where possible use our 'anti-roll' device which prevents the plant from travelling around should the box be inadvertently tipped upside down during transit.

Things occasionally go wrong, but we'd like to assure you we're on hand help!
