Named Pencil Cactus due to its long branches, this is actually a succulent - just to confuse you. It is native to South Africa and India and incredibly easy to look after. In the wild, it can reach 30 foot tall, but inside it will peak around 6 foot. It is slow growing, however, so it won't take over your home. Simply prune when you see fit.
Although this plant has poisonous sap, it's also capable of great things - it's a hydrocarbon plant, which means the sap can be converted into a fuel equivalent to gasoline.
Bright light and not too much water will see your Pencil Cactus thrive - perfect if you're still brushing up on your plant parenting skills as it's very forgiving should you forget to water it.
