You'll probably smell this plant before you see it - loved for its infamous jasmine scent, it's perfect when sat out in the garden enjoying a balmy summer evening. The Jasminum Gardenia Jasminoides produces large white blooms which contrast beautifully against its long, lance-shaped leaves.
The impressive blooms on this plant are too good to be just be admired in your garden. Bring them inside and place in a vase to enjoy as cut flowers.
Grow this plant in a spot where it can enjoy a mix of sun and shade. Too much direct sun may risk scorching its leaves and its buds falling off. Prune them to maintain their neat shape and faded flowers in spring. If you grow this plant in a pot, it may appreciate coming inside to a greenhouse and conservatory when the weather makes a turn for the worse. If planted in a flowerbed, make sure it has some form of shelter.
