Japanese Maple 'Going Green' - Acer palmatum 'Going Green'®
'Going Green' is a Japanese maple that earns its name - fresh, bright green foliage from spring through summer that becomes the main event in autumn, turning through yellow, gold, and orange as the season closes. It's a more understated choice than the red-leaved varieties but no less rewarding, and the green foliage works particularly well as a foil for other plants in a mixed planting scheme.
Native to Japan and East Asia, Japanese maples are woodland-edge plants by nature, which tells you exactly what they prefer: dappled light, shelter, and consistently moist but well-drained soil. 'Going Green' has a naturally cascading habit that builds into a softly rounded mound over time.
Grow in a sheltered position away from cold winds and late frosts. Partial shade or dappled sun suits it well. Use ericaceous or humus-rich, well-drained compost. Water regularly through summer - rainwater is preferable to tap water - and never let the rootball dry out completely. Prune only when fully dormant.
Decorative pot not included.
