£32.00Blue Myrtle Cactus - Pilosocereus azureus
That colour is not a trick of the light. The Blue Myrtle Cactus is naturally coated in a waxy, powdery bloom that gives its tall columns a frosted, blue-grey appearance that's quite unlike anything else you can grow on a windowsill. As it matures, golden-yellow spines emerge along each ridge, warm against all that cool blue.
Native to Brazil, Pilosocereus azureus grows in open, sun-baked landscapes, which tells you everything you need to know about what it wants at home. Lots of light, very little water, and a pot it can drain freely from.
This plant is also known as the Blue Torch Cactus.
A south-facing windowsill is ideal. Water every 2-3 weeks in spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Cut back to very occasional watering in autumn and winter.
