Lavender Ball - Lavandula stoechas 'Anouk'
All the character of the 'Anouk' lavender - the distinctive butterfly bracts, deep purple colouring, and warm scent that stops you mid-walk - but clipped into a neat ball form. It's a more considered shape that works beautifully in a pot, on either side of a doorway, or anywhere you want lavender to look a little more intentional. The bees don't mind the shape one bit.
Native to the Mediterranean, Spanish lavender is drought-tolerant, reliably popular with pollinators, and flowers from late spring through summer. The ball form is maintained with light trimming after flowering.
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil or compost. Trim the ball lightly after flowering to maintain the shape - little and often rather than one hard cut. Avoid cutting back into old wood. Don't overwater and don't overfeed - this is a plant that prefers lean, dry conditions.
