3 of our favourite bars and restaurants that are plant heaven

Need some inspiration for your next dining and drinks destination now we have a little more freedom? We’ve got you covered!

What happens when you join up two of our greatest loves in life – plants and eating out? A matchmade in heaven, the dream, the perfect day out - you get the idea! And if you live in England, you’ll probably have been enjoying such, as the further easing of lockdown restrictions came into play this week. Since Monday (12th April), we’ve been enjoying a little extra freedom, and a step closer to normal life as non-essential retail, gyms and hospitality venues that offer al fresco drinking and dining have been allowed to open. Yay! If you’re spoilt for choice on where to book for your first experience out, we’ve rounded up some of the best options – suitable for outdoor dining which you can enjoy now, and also indoor dining from 17th May. You may as well get your booking in early and have something to look forward to after all! The best part? Plants feature heavily in their decoration.

Mr Fogg’s

If you’ve been craving the simple joy of that first sip of a chilled beverage on a warm summer’s day, look no further than Mr Fogg’s. The attention to detail and botanical themed décor that runs throughout their venues make for a truly unique drinking experience. They describe themselves as ‘a collection of adventurous cocktail bars transporting you back to the Victorian era’, and the charming and quirky interiors definitely allude to that vibe. With three cocktail bars across London that are currently open, including a large outdoor terrace at Liverpool Street, a tavern in Covent Garden and the incredibly Instagram-post-worthy, House of Botanicals in Fitzrovia, it’ll finally feel as though summer has arrived. The remaining Mr Fogg’s venues that are indoor only will open in May. We have to give a special mention however to the House of Botanicals in particular as this really is a plant parent’s dream, crammed full of stunning plants and serving botanical-inspired cocktails, too. Race you there!

The Florist

So The Florist may be more on the side of flowers than plants, but once you catch sight of how beautiful these restaurants are, you’ll also be sold! With three venues in different places in the UK – Liverpool, Bristol and Watford – this is the perfect restaurant for long overdue bottomless brunches and catch-up sessions with your loved ones. They’re indoor only, so won’t be open until May 17th, but we’d imagine they’re rapidly getting booked so we’d advise locking down a date ASAP. We’d also be very surprised if you live having not snapped a single photo of the picture perfect interiors!

Pergola

Tucked away in what appears to be a quiet and unassuming part of London, you’ll find Pergola Paddington. Following the brightly coloured stairs up to the venue, you’re transported to what feels like a complete different world. Pergola spreads across two floors of open plan dining – expect to see plenty of fresh greenery, plants and flowers adorning the roof, and picnic style tables are spread across the entire site for a real social and lively atmosphere. Bars and street style vendors line the corners of Pergola, so you can eat and drink to your heart’s content, whilst admiring the bold, bright and beautiful decorations. There’s also sheltered terraces as well so you can stay protected from the rather unpredictable British weather, too. Open for bookings now.
