5 Romantic Plant Gifts for Valentine’s Day

5 Romantic Plant Gifts for Valentine’s Day

Enjoy a love that will grow this year.

Whoever you're loving this Valentine's Day, whether you’re or coupled up, or just want to show yours truly some self-love, Valentine’s Day is a mere two weeks away so we’ve collated some of our most romantic plant presents. And whilst flowers may be the obvious gift choice, we think it’s time to celebrate the houseplant, and enjoy a love that will grow this year.

Polka Dot Begonia & Jute Pot

If you’ve ever wished for the seductive, signature red soles of a Christian Louboutin shoe as a gift, this plant is kind of the next best thing. No, really! It is said that the deep reddish-pink overleaf of the Polka Dot Begonia inspired those red-soled stilettos. And with striking polka dots on the leaves, there really is something romantic and classy about this plant. As with any love, it requires time and attention in order to see it thrive, including regular misting to mimic its natural environment in Brazil. It also comes homed within a jute pot so it’s ready to take centre stage within your home.

Rose Gift Set With Truffles

Roses and Valentine’s Day go together like beards and daisies – get it?! But seriously, this type of flower is synonymous with romance, and as it’s a rose bush houseplant, it will be a permanent fixture in your home as opposed to a bouquet that has a much shorter lifespan. This gift comes as a set, including, of course, the plant, as well as a ceramic pot to home it within and a box of Charbonnel et Walker truffles. The rose bush blooms are naturally perfumed as well so the scent of love will most definitely be in the air.

Calathea Stromanthe Triostar

In dazzling shades of pink, green and white, this plant is a showstopper and will certainly make an impression on your loved one. Its colour palette is a subtle nod to all things love and romance, within being too much – perfect if you’re trying to play it cool! It is part of the Calathea family and related to the Prayer Plant. Make sure to position it in bright, indirect light as direct light can fade this plant’s beautiful colouring. Maintaining humidity is an important part of caring for this plant, so speak its love language by misting it regularly.

Red Anthurium

Forget wearing your heart on your sleeve, wear them on your leaves like the Anthurium. These futuristic looking houseplants have waxy, romantic leaves and come in both pink and red – perfect for the loving season. They like humid conditions, so remember to mist regularly, or group it together with other plants. Whilst you and your special someone may love this plant, your pet won’t – it is toxic to cats and dogs, so make sure you keep it out of their reach if they are prone to nibbling.

Houseplant Subscription

Can’t decide what to get your loved one? Or perhaps you want to shower them with love at every chance you get, rather than just on one specific day? A houseplant subscription could be the answer! Simply select how long you’d like the subscription for – 3, 6 or 12 months (not that you can put a time on love, it’s infinite after all!)  – and a beautiful plant will be sent to that special someone’s door every month. We think this makes a great option for long distance relationships where you can always see your partner as regularly as you’d like, but a monthly plant is a beautiful way of letting them know you’re thinking of them.
