Acer Cascade Ruby - Acer palmatum 'Cascade Ruby'
Japanese maples have a loyal following, and once you've had one in the garden you'll understand why. The Acer Cascade Ruby has deeply cut, ruby-red leaves that hang from weeping branches all summer, then turn flame-orange before they fall - it's a proper season-by-season show. Find it a sheltered spot with morning sun and a break from harsh afternoon light, keep the soil nicely moist, and it'll just get better every year. The Cascade Ruby does well in a generous patio pot too, making it a great choice for smaller outdoor spaces.

Your outdoor plant will be happiest planted into the garden as soon as possible after it arrives, provided the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for planting, but with a little extra watering, many outdoor plants can also be planted successfully during summer.
Water well after planting, then continue watering regularly for the first few weeks while the roots establish.
Most outdoor plants are chosen to grow outside and can happily stay outdoors all year round. However, this does depend on the specific plant variety and the conditions in your garden.
