Aeschynanthus Japhrolepis
Aeschynanthus Japhrolepis - Lipstick Plant
With a name like Lipstick plant, you'd expect something glamourous and the Aeschynanthus Japhrolepis doesn't disappoint! It produces red flowers that bloom from dark buds, looking just like - yep you guessed it - a lipstick tube. Its part of the Gesneriaceae family and native to Malaysia and Indonesia.
This plant's Latin name of Aeschynanthus is roughly translated to mean 'shame and flower' - although, when displayed in your home we'd rather hope you feel like a proud plant parent instead.
Avoid over-watering as this can cause fungal problems or even root rot. If the leaves go yellow in colour, show your lipstick plant some more light. Finally, prune after flowering season to keep them coming back.
Decorative pot not included.
