The Bunny Ear Cactus is otherwise known as a Cactus opuntia microdasys.
CONDITIONS: Native to Northern Mexico and Arizona’s desert regions.
LIGHT: Position in bright light. Reduce to bright indirect light during the winter months
WATER: Contrary to what new cactus keepers think, cactus require regular watering, at least during the summer. Only water again when the soil has dried out.
CARE: Your cactus needs dusting to unblock it’s pores, helping it to breathe. Try a make-up brush or an artist’s brush to remove cobwebs and dust.
PETS: This plant has been classified as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
FACT: The pads of this cactus can resemble bunny ears and its hair-like spines (glochids) look like fur, hence the name.
Looking for a pot to fit your Cactus? You'll need a pot between 11-13cm for the small cactus and 18-20 for the large, head over to our plant pot page for the full collection. All our plants come with a beautiful keepsake postcard with care instructions so you'll never kill your house plant again!
It’s not just our products that are green. 95% of our packaging is either biodegradable or recyclable (and we’re working hard on that last 5%, it’s just the pesky plastic top from our ‘anti-roll system’ left to replace). As a company we’ve made a concerted effort to switch to sustainable packaging, it costs twice the price but at least we sleep well at night!
