Clematis armandii 'Apple Blossom' - Clematis armandii 'Apple Blossom'
Most clematis flower in summer. The Clematis armandii 'Apple Blossom' flowers in February and March - which, when there's not much else happening in the garden, feels almost miraculous. An evergreen climbing plant, it produces pale pink to white blooms with a sweet almond scent against long, dark, leathery leaves. It's vigorous and needs a solid support structure and room to spread, but on a sheltered south or west-facing wall it's hard to beat for winter and early spring interest.
