Crocus 'Ruby Giant' - Crocus tommasinianus 'Ruby Giant'
A rich reddish-purple crocus with larger flowers than most early varieties. It is one of the more vigorous types in grass, spreading on its own and coming back each year without much help. Squirrels tend to leave this species alone more than other crocus.
Plant 50 or more in a lawn or under deciduous trees, where it naturalises faster than most crocus. A 20cm pot takes 15–20 bulbs.
Can cause stomach upset in cats and dogs if eaten.
