Foxglove - Digitalis 'Panter'
The foxglove is one of the most recognisable plants in the British countryside - and 'Panter' is one of the most vivid versions of it. The tall spires carry tubular flowers in a rich, almost fuchsia pink, spotted inside and deeply saturated in a way that stands out from most of the softer pastel foxgloves. Bees absolutely love them, and they bring real height and presence to any planting scheme.
A biennial by nature - producing a leaf rosette in its first year and flowering spikes in the second - 'Panter' will often self-seed around reliably, so once you have it in the garden it has a way of coming back year after year on its own terms.
Grow in partial shade or dappled light in moist, well-drained soil. They'll also grow in full sun as long as the soil stays reasonably moist. No special pruning needed - leave the spent stems to self-seed naturally, or deadhead if you'd prefer to keep things tidy.
