Grape Hyacinth - Muscari armeniacum
Tight spikes of small deep blue bells, packed closely enough to look like a bunch of grapes turned upside down. It multiplies quickly, which makes it good value for filling a difficult patch, though it is worth keeping out of a tidy border for the same reason. Reliable in pots and along path edges.
Plant in drifts of 50 or more along path edges and under shrubs, or 20–30 in a 25cm pot. They spread readily in the ground, so give them room.
Can cause stomach upset in cats and dogs if eaten.
