Jade Plant - Cassula ovata
Chunky, glossy leaves and sturdy stems give the Jade Plant a cheerful, almost bonsai-like presence on any shelf or sill. It’s a classic symbol of good luck and prosperity, often gifted as a housewarming or new-job present.
Native to South Africa, the Jade Plant is famously undemanding. It loves a bright spot and thrives on a little neglect - water only when the soil is bone dry, and make sure the pot drains well. These succulents store water in their plump leaves, so they’ll forgive you for the odd missed watering. With time and the right care, your Jade Plant can develop a thick, tree-like trunk and even produce tiny, star-shaped flowers.
