Muscari Latifolium - Muscari latifolium
A two-tone grape hyacinth, with deep blackcurrant-purple flowers at the base of the spike and pale blue ones at the tip. Unlike other muscari it produces a single broad leaf per bulb, so it stays neater in a border. It clumps up slowly rather than spreading everywhere.
Plant in groups of 25 or more in a sunny border, or 15–20 in a 25cm pot. It clumps up more slowly than the common grape hyacinth, so it stays where it is put.
Can cause stomach upset in cats and dogs if eaten.
