"The quality of the plants far exceeds what you might find at a local garden centre, and they’re very reasonably priced" — Emma
If you’re after a plant that feels a little more unusual but is still wonderfully easy to live with, the Oxalis Triangularis is a standout from the start. With its deep purple, butterfly-like leaves and delicate, starry blooms, it brings a sense of movement and quiet drama to a space, while remaining refreshingly low-maintenance. It’s an ideal choice if you want something a bit different without adding any extra fuss.
Its triangular leaves open and close in response to light, gently shifting throughout the day like a living rhythm in your home. By evening, they fold inwards, then reopen with the morning light — a subtle, mesmerising habit that never really loses its charm. Soft stems lift clusters of pale pink or white flowers above the foliage, adding a lightness that balances its rich, velvety tones beautifully.
Native to South America, this plant is naturally resilient and easygoing. It prefers bright, indirect light to keep its colour rich, but will tolerate softer conditions, and only needs watering once the top layer of soil has dried out. Whether placed on a windowsill, bedside table or as a centrepiece on a shelf, it’s a plant that quietly draws attention and makes everyday spaces feel more considered.
