A little about this plant

Passion Flower - Passiflora piramide mix
Nothing quite prepares you for a passion flower in full bloom. The flowers are extraordinary - intricate, otherworldly, and somehow produced with complete ease on a plant that's happy to scramble up almost anything you point it at. A fence, a trellis, a wall - it will cover it and reward you with weeks of flowers through summer.

Native to South and Central America, passifloras are climbing plants that use tendrils to attach themselves, so provide a support for them to grip from the start. This piramide mix includes varieties with purple, blue, or bicolour flowers. In mild winters, established plants may hold some foliage; in harder winters they may die back but will regrow from the base in spring.

This plant is also known as the Passion Vine.

Grow in a warm, sheltered, sunny spot - a south-facing wall is ideal. Plant in well-drained soil or compost. Water regularly in summer, less so in winter. Prune back in spring to keep tidy and encourage the best flowering growth. In colder areas, a layer of mulch over the roots in autumn gives useful protection.

outdoor plant FAQs

How long should I wait until repotting my outdoor plant?

Your outdoor plant will be happiest planted into the garden as soon as possible after it arrives, provided the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for planting, but with a little extra watering, many outdoor plants can also be planted successfully during summer.

How often should I water it?

Water well after planting, then continue watering regularly for the first few weeks while the roots establish.

Will the plant surive all year round outside?

Most outdoor plants are chosen to grow outside and can happily stay outdoors all year round. However, this does depend on the specific plant variety and the conditions in your garden.
