A little about this plant

Pieris japonica 'Forest Flame' - Pieris japonica 'Forest Flame'

The Pieris japonica 'Forest Flame' does something genuinely remarkable in spring: new growth emerges vivid flame-red, before softening through pink, then cream, then settling into dark glossy green for the rest of the year. White lily-of-the-valley style flowers open at the same time as the red new growth, which makes it one of the most interesting acid-loving shrubs you can grow. The one important thing to know: the Forest Flame needs acidic growing conditions, so use ericaceous compost and rainwater where possible.

outdoor plant FAQs

How long should I wait until repotting my outdoor plant?

Your outdoor plant will be happiest planted into the garden as soon as possible after it arrives, provided the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for planting, but with a little extra watering, many outdoor plants can also be planted successfully during summer.

How often should I water it?

Water well after planting, then continue watering regularly for the first few weeks while the roots establish.

Will the plant surive all year round outside?

Most outdoor plants are chosen to grow outside and can happily stay outdoors all year round. However, this does depend on the specific plant variety and the conditions in your garden.
