Rose - Rosa 'New Dawn'
'New Dawn' is one of the most loved climbing roses ever bred - and it's easy to understand why. From early summer through to autumn it produces wave after wave of semi-double, blush-pink flowers with a sweet fragrance, covering whatever you train it against in a way that looks effortlessly romantic. It's vigorous, repeat-flowering, and remarkably easy to grow for a rose.
First introduced in 1930, 'New Dawn' was actually the world's first patented plant variety. Fully hardy across the UK, it tolerates partial shade better than most climbing roses - it'll even perform on a north-facing wall - and has good disease resistance. It will reach around 4-5 metres given time and a suitable support.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Train the stems horizontally or at an angle when possible - this encourages more flowering shoots. Prune in late winter, removing dead or crossing stems and shortening side-shoots to two or three buds. Feed with a rose fertiliser in spring and again after the first flush of flowering. Note: thorny stems - handle with gloves.
Plant may arrive in bud. May include trellis for support.
Decorative pot not included.
