Spider Plant - Chlorophytum comosum
The Spider Plant is the great survivor of the houseplant world. Its striped ribbon leaves fountain out from the centre, and once settled it sends out baby plantlets on long stems, ready to be potted up and passed on.
It's happy in most light and forgives almost any level of attention. It's pet-friendly as well, which is rarer than you'd think among trailing plants.
This one arrives planted into a self-watering insert, sitting inside the Elho Vibes pot. Made in Holland from recycled plastic, the pot does the remembering for you. Fill the reservoir and your plant drinks exactly what it needs, when it needs it.
One thing to know - your plant travels dry. When it arrives, fill the reservoir and give the soil a light water from the top. That's its first drink at home, and from then on you'll only need to top up the reservoir every few weeks.
