Picture the Mediterranean. There's almost certainly an olive tree in it. Probably a lemon too. This is that feeling - three magnificent patio plants that bring genuine southern European character to any outdoor space, terrace, courtyard or garden.
The olive is ancient, romantic and completely unbothered by whatever the British summer decides to do. The lemon is optimistic in the way that only citrus can be - fragrant blossom, beautiful foliage and the very real possibility of actual lemons if you treat it kindly. And the bay tree is the finishing touch that makes the whole thing feel intentional - clipped, classic and unmistakably Mediterranean.
All three are evergreen, giving year-round interest. Bring indoors or protect from frost from November - the lemon in particular dislikes a hard freeze.

Your outdoor plant will be happiest planted into the garden as soon as possible after it arrives, provided the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for planting, but with a little extra watering, many outdoor plants can also be planted successfully during summer.
Water well after planting, then continue watering regularly for the first few weeks while the roots establish.
Most outdoor plants are chosen to grow outside and can happily stay outdoors all year round. However, this does depend on the specific plant variety and the conditions in your garden.
