Verbena 'Lollipop' - Verbena bonariensis 'Lollipop'
The full-sized Verbena bonariensis is a tall, see-through plant that weaves through borders like a purple haze. 'Lollipop' gives you the same dense clusters of lavender-violet flowers in a compact version that suits pots and smaller spaces - and flowers from early summer right through to autumn without much encouragement.
Native to South America, from Brazil down to Argentina, Verbena bonariensis is a wildlife magnet - bees and butterflies find it irresistible. 'Lollipop' sits at around 55cm, making it easy to manage in a container or at the front of a border while still delivering the full flowering effect of the species.
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil. Deadheading is not essential but prolongs the season. In autumn, resist the urge to cut it back hard - leave the stems in place over winter and cut back to fresh new growth in spring. A layer of mulch around the base in colder areas helps protect the roots.

Your outdoor plant will be happiest planted into the garden as soon as possible after it arrives, provided the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for planting, but with a little extra watering, many outdoor plants can also be planted successfully during summer.
Water well after planting, then continue watering regularly for the first few weeks while the roots establish.
